Mr. Vallabhbhai Patel; An Indian barrister, politician and one of the leading leaders of the country who fought for Indian independence. During the first three years of Indian independence after 1947, he served as Deputy Prime Minister, Home Minister, Minister of Information and Minister of State. did.
In 2014, the Government of India decided to celebrate his birthday as "National Unity Day" to honor Sardar Patel's contribution in making India a united India. Hence, every year on 31 October, the birthday of India's Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is celebrated as "National Unity Day".

Education of Sardar Patel
He studied in primary school in Karamasad and high school in Petlad. Sardar Patel took a long time to complete his school education. He passed the 10th examination at the age of 22.
In August 1910, he moved to London for further studies. He completed the 36-month course of advocacy in just 30 months. In the year 1913, he returned to India and settled in Ahmedabad and became a barrister in criminal law at Ahmedabad Bar.



Political Career of Sardar Patel
From 1917 to 1924, Patel served as the first Indian municipal commissioner of Ahmedabad and from 1924 to 1928 was its elected municipal president.
Patel first made his mark in 1918, when he launched a movement with the help of farmers and zamindars of Kairana, Gujarat, against the decision of the Bombay government to recover the tax even after the crop had deteriorated. He was given the title of "Sardar", which means "Leader" due to his skillful leadership in the Bardoli campaign.
Contribute to making India a united India
It is known that when the British declared independence to India, the country was divided into 565 princely states. The British rulers had allowed these princely states to rule independently. In this way, India's independence was divided into many small states. Sardar Patel, as the Home Minister of the country, urged all of them to join the Indian Republic and 562 princely states voluntarily agreed to join the Indian Confederation except Hyderabad, Bhopal, Junagadh and Kashmir.

But due to the strong intentions of Sardar Patel, all of them eventually agreed to join India. However, to include Hyderabad in India, Patel had to run "Operation Polo".

Contribution: After independence, most of the provincial committees were in favor of Sardar Patel. As Gandhiji wished, Sardar Patel distanced himself from the race for the post of Prime Minister and supported Jawaharlal Nehru. Later, he was given the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, after which his first priority was to include indigenous princely states in India. He did this task without any big fight.But Army had to be sent for Operation Polo of Hyderabad. Since Sardar Patel's contribution to the integration of India was extremely important, he was called the Iron Man of India. He died in India on 15 December 1950 and this iron man said goodbye to the world.
